House Music Beyond 023 with Guest mix by Ralf Kollmann (mobilee)
Start:
Oct 01, 2010 12:00 AM GMT-8
End:
Oct 01, 2010 02:00 PM GMT-8
I'm changing up the format for House Music and Beyond on Digitally Imported. Two hour show every 1st Friday at 12PM PST / 3PM US Eastern / 8PM UK / 21:00h Central. This new format will allow me to feature a one hour guest mix at times. Ralf Kollmann founder of mobilee records will be my first guest and you will hear a live set from a great event called Voodoo here in LA. TUNE IN ONLINE: http://www.di.fm/calendar/event.php?event=23398 Ralf Kollmann is yet to put his name on any mobilee productions—most likely because he spends his days running mobilee records—but the glowing reception he has received as a DJ suggests he might just be the label’s secret weapon. Having founded mobilee in 2005 alongside Anja Schneider, Kollmann has been knee-deep in the development of the techno scene since the 90s and has since become one of the central nerves in the spine of electronic music that is Berlin. With a committment to consistently pushing the label in dynamic directions, Ralf has been instrumental in transforming mobilee from a small, homegrown imprint into a full-on music and entertainment enterprise. The true double threat, Kollmann is equally adept at packing dancefloors worldwide, where one can expect nothing less than tight track selection and even tighter mixing. A veteran of the electronic music scene with a record collection unparalleled in its depth and magnitude, Kollmann fills his sets with everything from stone-cold classics to the newest of the new—often including exclusive material—one the benefits of his position at the top of the techno food chain. While his podcasts and DJ mixes featuring the latest unreleased mobilee and Leena tracks spread around the world at light speed, Kollmann himself has been busy with appearances at T-Bar, Harry Klein, Watergate, Panorama Bar, Weekend, and the Goya Festival. As Kollmann’s vivacious sets continue to inhabit the world’s most renowned clubs, one thing becomes crystal clear: be it running a label or making people dance, Ralf Kollmann hits all the right spots. http://mobilee-records.de/ralf-kollmann

Friday 22nd of August Jacobs List Presents....HouseMates! Dj Dayhota, Dave Hughes, Aiden and Domas! We're all under one roof as House Mates! ► AIDEN RAMOS (Station 24, HouseMates)
Beach House resident and LA native Aiden Ramos has steadily built a respected reputation amongst his peers in Los Angeles's House Community and feels fortunate to have been involved in several influential parties that enabled him the opportunity to share the decks with John Digweed, Kazell, Metro Area, Eduardo Castillo, Android Cartel, and Scott K to name a few. Aiden has recently finished his first sound design project for the independent film El Dorado directed by Terry Cunningham and is currently working on a couple Deep House singles hoping to be released in November 2010. ► DOMAS (House Music and Beyond, Laundry Night, Sweden) Domas was born and raised in Sweden. When he turned 21 he moved away from the cold and headed for the sunny and music-embracing state of California. His DJ career kicked off less then four years ago and he has already held down gigs at Winter Music Conference in Miami, Es Vive in Ibiza, Avalon & King King in Hollywood, and a residency at Laundry Night in Los Angeles. ► DJ DAYHOTA (Hummingbird Music) “…Funk Queen Dayhota (a.k.a. Shannon Ialongo), who energetically works the crowd as she spins, looking as if she’d rather be on the dance floor than stuck in the dj booth.-david prince(spin magazine). The world of house music knows her as the infectious DJ Dayhota. Her trademark cutting-edge style combined with her high-energy filled DJ sets put DJ Dayhota into the upper echelon of the underground industry. Spring 2006 marks the release of DJ Dayhota's first mixed CD Catch Me on RE-INVENT MUSIC followed by Stomp. This on STOMPY.COM. In the summer of 2005 Dayhota collaborated with fellow SuperJaner Lady D to work on a remix for Showtime's critically acclaimed series The "L" Word. A Chicago veteran of house-music, Dayhota has entertained at clubs worldwide: Centro-Fly and The Limelight in NYC, Motor in Detroit, Rain and Ice in Las Vegas, Sno-Drift and Ruby Sky in San Francisco and Level and Nikki Beach in South Beach (Miami). Her sound has graced the international speakers at top-flight venues like The Guvernment and The Docks in Toronto, Batofar in Paris, Zapata and The Lab in Germany, Macarena in Barcelona, Seven in Melbourne and The Underground Café in Sydney to name a few. In an industry dominated by male influence, Dayhota and fellow DJs Heather, Colette, and Lady D paved the way for future female DJs, shaping DJ culture by forming the all female DJ collective SuperJane. In 2000 SuperJane went on its first national tour and in 2002 its first international tour. In 2002 Mixer Magazine nominated DJ Dayhota as one of the Top 100 DJs, while URB Magazine nominated her in 2004. Not only is DJ Dayhota a feature talent of the underground world, but she rapidly gains mainstream recognition with featured stories on the pages of Billboard, XLR8R, Spin, Jane, Nylon, and Velocity. With her energy, unique style and undisputable talent she is becoming the conduit between the underground world of house and mainstream America. This DJ is the kind that groups ambition with talent and she will continue to make her mark. Look out for DJ Dayhota!! ► DAVE HUGHES (Playloop, Ireland) You know a DJ has a sort of death grip on his audience when previously sleeping people leap up out of a sound sleep and immediately throw themselves onto the dance floor. The DJ we’re referring to is DJ Dave Hughes, of Ireland (currently LA), and the incident described actually happened during one of his gripping sets at The Philadelphia Experiment camp at Burning Man, 2007. Trying to describe his style is like trying to capture Shakespeare in flat prose. Techy house at times, at others funky, flavorful, driving beats, at once smooth and grinding bass lines that, most simply put, just make people want to dance. Dave hosted residences and guest DJ spots all over Ireland, the United States, Australia, and Mexico. Some memorable highlights of Dave’s career include his residency at Home Nightclub, Ireland (1999), Love Parade, Berlin (2002), and The Peppermint lounge, Sydney, Australia (2005). Dave’s first record signing was by Rithma label on Rithmica Records in 2007. With his remix of “Step Aside” (Monica Brooke, vocals) he broke into the DJ/Producer scene. In April 2007, Dave signed with Philadelphia based label, Playloop Records, and released his first commercial EP, “Journey’s End EP.” Soon after, on October 1, 2007 Dave’s “Let’s Do It EP” was released by legendary DJ / Producer John Tejada on his Palette Recordings, the same day that Playloop Records released his “Messages EP.” All in time for his 29th birthday. http://playlooprecords.com/dave-hughes/ New Playloop release out on Beatport:

LICKED 3rd BIRTHDAY BASH ft. THE SHAPESHIFTERS @ The Whitehouse

End:
Aug 08, 2010 05:00 AM
Where:
ICKED celebrate 3 years in clubland with a beach party themed event at The Whitehouse, Saturday August 7th! And to mark this special occassion, we have booked none other than legendary djing duo 'THE SHAPESHIFTERS' to come and help us celebrate in style.... THE SHAPESHIFTERS BIOG:
The Shapeshifters are Simon Marlin and Max Reich. Party people at heart, the pair met when Simon signed Max to the Down Boy record label that he worked for. Musically, Simon found his enthusiasm for house on the dance floor in the late 80’s and early 90’s promoting nights and DJing, while Max got into production via a passion for techno, honed whilst throwing illegal raves in his native city of Gothenburg. In 2008 they found a new home at Defected Records, leaving Positiva after 4 years, and have since made their mark at the world’s leading house music label releasing ‘Chime’ – a re-work of the Orbital classic – and the ‘Young Dubs EP’ which included ‘Sideways’ and ‘Nocturnal’. Next up was the huge track ‘Helter Skelter’, featuring Steve Edwards on vocals and which was released in May this year. Throughout 2009, The Shapeshifters remixed for Natalie Imbruglia, and collaborated with Frankie Knuckles on ‘The Ones You Love’ which is out now on Nocturnal Groove. They have also recently remixed Candi Staton (‘Musical Freedom’) and have mixed and compiled a digital compilation (‘Nocturnal Grooves : Vol.2 – Mixed By The Shapeshifters’) for their own Nocturnal Groove imprint. Aside from 3 top 10 hit records ('Lola's Theme', 'Back To Basics' and 'Incredible'), a BRIT Award nomination, a bucket full of remixes and productions for the likes of George Michael, Faithless, Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terry, Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis and Moby, the pair continue to produce the goods. They had the best selling house cut on Beatport in 2008 (‘Lola’s Theme (08 Re-Edit)’) and in 2009 delivered remixes for Empire Of The Sun (‘We Are The People’) and Kleerup feat. Titiyo (‘Longing For Lullabies’). Their critically acclaimed ‘The Shapeshifters - 'In the House'’ DJ mix compilation was another success in an already impressive portfolio and this year The Shapeshifters also mixed the ‘Summerdayze’ compilation to coincide with their recent Australian tour in January 2010. Throughout 2010, The Shapeshifters will hold DJ residencies for Defected @ Pacha (Ibiza – Summer 2010) and at Mansion (Miami) as well as at their long running party hang ‘Nocturnal’, which has recently hosted events at Matter (London) and runs alongside their own Nocturnal Groove label. As well as continuing their extensive worldwide tour schedule, playing shows from Australia to Canada, Europe and South America to the Far East and everywhere else in between, in 2010 ‘The Shapeshifters’ Nocturnal Groove Radio Show’ will be launching online and broadcast through a range of international radio stations. H3LIUM-3 is the coming together of three House Music DJ's. Los Angeles resident Domas, with a Dutch house style that keeps the party going on and on, Seismyc with his big room BOMBS that raise hands WAY up in the air, and Miami's own Damian with his dance floor fillers, are all fired up and ready to bring the NOIZE! Each may have their own style, and each may have their own hometown, but ALL of them want the same thing: To bring you, their friends and fans, the best pool party Winter Music Conference has to offer!
